When Norm Basden's gospel quartet needed a tour bus, he undertook
the job himself. Norm moved a bus into his backyard, removed the
seats and did some conversion work including carpeting and adding
beds. After the bus was done other singers approached Norm about
converting a coach for them. Thus one of the oldest conversion
companies in America, Norm's Custom Coach was born, the name was
later changed to Vulcan Coach Corporation.
Vulcan Coach got off to a good start due to the hard work and
expertise of it's founder and soon gained a reputation for designing
entertainer coaches. The earliest conversion for a rock star was
for Jackson Browne. After that others lined up, including Martina
McBride, Ronnie Dunn, Pam Tillis, Brooks & Dunn, Waylon Jennings
and Garth Brookes is a repeat client of Vulcan Coach.
Today Vulcan Coach is headed by Bruce Basden, Norm's son. In
addition to entertainer coaches Vulcan Coach also does motor home
conversions, executive day coaches, medical coaches, emergency
evacuation vehicles, disaster relief vehicles and the Super Coach.
The company also does major remodels.
